Efficiency of the offshore purse seine fishing cooperative models in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province

Abstract

In recent years, the security, stability and legal order at sea, were quite complicated. Weather and natural disasters were unpredictable. Fishery resources have decreased day by day. Fuel prices have fluctuated constantly. All these reasons have made fishing at sea increasingly difficult, unsafe and efficient. In view of the above difficulties, it was imperative to link offshore fishing cooperatives-based models with fishing activities, rescue, safety at sea. The research results of the offshore purse seine fishing have shown the effectiveness of this model. The average catch was from 13.55 to 23.25 tons/vessel/trip, the revenue was from 354.2 to 651 million VND/vessel/trip, profit was from 64.04 to 132.3 million VND/vessel/trip, crew income was from 6.1 to 9.5 million VND/trip.
