Studying pond aquaculture sustainnability in Nha Phu lagoon area: A case study of communes of Ninh Ich, Ninh Loc and Ninh Ha ward
Abstract
Studying pond aquaculture sustainability in Nha Phu lagoon area of Ninh Ich, Ninh Loc communes and Ninh Ha ward was carried out from November 2022 to May 2023 by survey method. Sustainability index including 19 criteria consider 4 aspects of economics, environment, socio and governance. Study results indicate that pond aquaculture is less sustainable with low PASI (Pond Aquaculture Sustainability Index) of Ninh Ich, Ninh Loc communes, Ninh Ha ward and the whole study area, respectively of 33.88; 25.61; 24.45 and 26.92 in comparison to average of these theorical values being 45.02; 36.41; 36.38 and 44.15. The analysis shows that pond aquaculture sustainability is different among surveyed localities about 4 considered aspects. With exception of the indicators of environmental and social aspects for pond aquaculture at Ninh Ich commune, and social indicator for pond aquaculture at Ninh Loc commune; all cases are lower than corresponding average of theorical values in each one.
