Experimental research to assess strengthening capacity of TRC for 4 point bending beam

Abstract

This paper presents an experimental procedure to determine the basic mechanical properties of the component materials of Textile Reinforced Concrete (TRC) using materials available in Vietnam. Besides that, the study performed experiments to verify the reinforcement efficiency of TRC for Reinforced Concrete Beams (RCB) under 4-point bending load as well as to evaluate suitability of TRC in reinforcing the beam. The study also considered the efficiency of the contact surface between the fine-grained concrete and the RCB. Research results shows that the capacity of the beam reinforced by TRC increases about 16%. Research results can be used as a reference to specify the basic mechanical properties of
TRC and input parameters for numerical model study.
