Solutions to mobilize capital to develop urban transport infrastructure system in Ho Chi Minh City.
Abstract
In the context of strong urbanization, investment in urban transport infrastructure has become a significant challenge for developing megacities. Many important projects have been planned to realize the target of transport infrastructure but to do this, from now until 2030, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) needs about 44 billion USD. Meanwhile, the budget capital of HCMC for annual infrastructure development is not enough. For example, in the period of 2021 -2025, Ho Chi Minh City can only arrange for the transport sector to only reach 19.8% of the demand. The article proposes a number of solutions to help Ho Chi Minh City mobilize capital to meet the needs of investment in developing urban transport infrastructure in the near future, remove difficulties in capital sources and create conditions for Ho Chi Minh City to develop commensurate with its current potential.
