Abstract

In the context of globalization and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), Vietnam's healthcare system is confronting dual challenges driven by shifting disease patterns and the public's escalating demand for high-quality healthcare services. Thehealthcare workforce is identified as the core asset of the system, playing a pivotal role in addressing these challenges. The paradigm shift from a traditional medical education model to a modern one—where the State acts as a constructive enabler and promotes the mobilization of societal resources—is recognized as a pressing issue in the current landscape. This paper provides a direct analysis of the theoretical and practical issues surrounding the restructuring of the medical human resources education system in Vietnam within this new context. Based on an evaluation of the current situation in Vietnam, alongside empirical lessons drawn from the models of the United States and Japan, the paper proposes several solutions to enhance the effectiveness of transitioning the medical education model in Vietnam.
