Quality of university lecturers under the lens of AUN-QA accreditation: a practical analysis in Vietnam
Abstract
This paper focuses on analyzing the current status of university lecturers' quality in Vietnam from the perspective of the AUN-QA accreditation framework. By examining criteria related to academic qualifications; teaching competence and the application oftechnology in education; scientific research activities; foreign language proficiency; and continuous professional development, the study clarifies the extent to which Vietnamese higher education institutions meet regional accreditation requirements. The findings reveal that although there have been notable improvements in faculty quality, certain gaps remain when compared to international standards—particularly in research capacity and global integration. Based on this analysis, the paper proposes both foundational and complementary solutions to enhance faculty quality, aiming toward sustainable development and deeper integration of Vietnamese higher education within the ASEAN region.
