Abstract

During the Ancient period, Japan took various measures and methods to absorb other civilizations' achievements, especially learning from the Chinese civilization of the Sui and Tang dynasties. After absorbing the achievements of Chinese civilization, such as writing, ideology, state institutions, and laws, the Japanese absorbed, transformed, and applied those civilizational achievements to become a civilization with Japanese national characteristics. Absorbing foreign civilizations, Japan still preserved traditional elements. Japan learned from the achievements of Chinese civilization and transformed those acquired achievements into elements of the development of the civilization of Japan in the Ancient period.
