The penetrating ocular injuries with intraocular foreign bodies resulting in more complications such as endophthalmitis, retinal detachment, or proliferative vitreoretinopathy than those without intraocular foreign bodies. These factors may be important for preoperative counselling of the patient and for surgical planning. Early initial wound closure time reduced the risk of endophthalmitis
