CURRENT STATUS AND SOLUTIONS TO PROMOTE THE RECYCLING OF MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE IN HO CHI MINH CITY ACCORDING TO A CIRCULAR ECONOMY APPROACH
Abstract
In order to prevent the risks of natural resource depletion, reduce environmental pollution, reduce ocean plastic waste and sustainable development, many countries around the world, including Vietnam, have been the transition from “linear economy” to “circular economy” models, in which waste recycling is an important and indispensable component. This article focuses on analyzing current trends in the world and updating the latest researches on circular economy and waste recycling, assessing the current status of municipal solid waste (MSW) collection and recycling in both the formal and informal sectors, analyze the challenges, potentials and opportunities for the recycling of MSW in Ho Chi Minh City, and propose solutions to promote the recycling of MSW in the area according to circular economy approach
