Promoting Circular Consumption Behavior: Factors Influencing Vietnamese Generation Z's Intention to Extend the Lifespan of Personal Electronic Devices
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the factors influencing Vietnamese Generation Z's intention to extend the lifespan of personal electronic devices, while concurrently assessing the gap between intention and circular consumption behavior. By integrating the Theory of Planned Behavior and the Push-Pull-Mooring framework, this research employs Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling to examine the relationships among the variables. Results indicate that pull factors and mooring factors significantly drive this intention, whereas push factors act as substantial barriers. Furthermore, the study highlights the moderating role of perceived convenience and reveals a pronounced intention-behavior gap primarily driven by infrastructural, regulatory, and market barriers. Based on these findings, the study proposes refining the legal framework, encouraging enterprises to adopt circular business models and promoting sustainable consumption within society.
