Abstract

Based on a synthesis of previous empirical and theoretical studies, this paper identifies the role of three key brain regions: the nucleus accumbens (NAcc), the prefrontal cortex (PFC), and the amygdala, in regulating economic behavior through two cognitively mediated mechanisms: impulsivity and loss aversion bias. The paper proposes an integrated model combining behavioral economics and neuroeconomics to explain short-term economic choice behavior. The model shows that irrational behaviors such as immediate consumption, high time discounting, and risk avoidance can be explained by the interaction between reward systems, cognitive control, and negative emotions. The main contribution of the study is the development of a testable, multi-level analytical framework, suggesting directions for empirical research and applications in financial education, behavioral communication, and personalized policy planning.
