Population Aging in Vietnam: Challenges for Economic Management
Abstract
Population aging is an inevitable demographic trend occurring rapidly in Vietnam, posing novel challenges to economic management amidst ongoing development and global integration. This paper analyzes the current state of population aging in Vietnam, elucidating the primary impacts of this trend on macroeconomic management. The study employs document analysis and synthesis methods, combined with the extraction of secondary data from official statistics and reports. The findings indicate that population aging exacerbates pressures on the labor market, social security systems, and fiscal balance. Furthermore, it necessitates an adjustment in the growth model and economic management approaches towards greater sustainability. Consequently, the paper proposes several economic management and policy implications aimed at enhancing the economy's adaptive capacity to long-term demographic shifts.
