The European Union’s legal framework on international cooperation in criminal asset recovery - Reference values for ASEAN and Vietnam

Abstract

International cooperation on criminal asset recovery plays an important role in the legal system of every country and region in the world. In addition to international treaties, there are regional legal documents that regulate international cooperation in criminal asset recovery between countries in the same geographical area. The article analyses and clarifies the legal aspects of international cooperation in criminal asset recovery in the European Union (EU) region to select experiences to learn from, thereby offering some recommendations to improve the legal framework of international cooperation in criminal asset recovery in the ASEAN region, of which Vietnam is a member.
