The achievements and challenges of the World Trade Organization
Abstract
The World Trade Organization (WTO) was established on January 1, 1995. Over the past 25 years, the WTO has made great contributions to trade liberalization globally, contributing to the improvement of international law and promoting the development of national domestic legal systems. However, in recent years, the WTO has increasingly encountered shortcomings within its organization and operation. In this context, it is essential to review the role, as well as objectively and accurately assess the achievements and current challenges of the WTO. This helps Vietnam and other members of the WTO take practical actions to strongly reform the Organization in a suitable direction to continue leading global international integration in the new period. It also helps Vietnam ensure solutions to effectively respond in the current WTO "crisis" situation.
