Personality traits of offenders
Abstract
What are typical characteristics of an offender’s personality? Why is a specific crime committed by a particular individual but not by others? Why does this individual commit a particular crime but not others? Why other people who live in the same conditions as the offender but they do not commit such crime?... In order to provide reliable answers to the questions raised above, it is necessary to systematically shed light on human personality characteristics that motivate individuals who committed crime. The analytical and synthesis methods are employed in the paper with reference to scientists’ viewpoints, by which leads to the conclusion that the offenders’ personality traits usually involve essential features regarding low intelligence, aggression and impulsiveness, highly psychological instability, high levels of extroversion, limited and irrational awareness, dissatisfaction towards their social status, deviation from and conflict with social norms, low levels of self-control and social adaptability. These personality traits are considered substantial elements giving rise to human crimes.
