Abstract

Climate change is altering the ocean temperatures around the world and leading to a rise in sea-level. Coastal countries are suffering from the undesirable effects of rising sea-level, which has affected their baseline system. Rising sea-level changes the topography of the coasts, making them become unstable and submerging some islands and coastal landsAs a result, the basepoints and baseline system of the coastal state are also affected. In order to clarify these issues, the article will focus on studying the impact of rising sea-levelon determining the baseline of coastal countries, both from a legal perspective based on the Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 and the practice of different countries. The article will also forecast the impact of rising sea-level on the Vietnamese baseline system and propose some solutions to protect Vietnam's maritime rights and interests under international law.
