Abstract

Plastic pollution in the sea is one of the most urgent environmental problems worldwide, threatening the ecology, quality of the environment and the habitat of humans and other species. During the past few years, Vietnam has made considerable efforts in building a legal framework to solve the “white pollution” problem based on international, regional and national law standards on environmental protection. The article focuses on clarifying the legal framework at both international and national levels regarding the prevention and management of marine pollution caused by plastic waste; from that, giving some recommendations for Vietnamese Government to ensure the effective management of plastic waste pollution.
