Protecting vulnerable groups in the Nguyen period and lessons learned

Abstract

Vietnamese law in the Nguyen period paid certain attention to those considered vulnerable in society, such as women, the elderly, children, disabled people, ethnic minorities, prisoners, slaves, and people in difficult circumstances and homelessness. Not only did the Nguyen state recognize certain rights and grant material and spiritual advantages to vulnerable groups, but it also took measures to ensure that those rights were exercised in practise. The article researches regulations and measures to protect the rights of vulnerable groups in Vietnam during the Nguyen period with the aim of pointing out some contemporary values, lessons for the purpose of establishing and improving the law on protecting vulnerable groups, as well as improving propaganda work, disseminating and implementing laws to protect human rights in the context of building a socialist rule of law state in Vietnam today.
