Abstract

The equal opportunity to enjoy all human rights, including the right to work, of people with disabilities - a vulnerable social group - should be ensured by the State and other relevant duty bearers. The current development of the digital economy has created new requirements for ensuring the right to work for people with disabilities in Vietnam. The emergence of new occupations, the decline of traditional ones, as well as the changes in employment practices have increased unemployment risk for everyone, putting people with disabilities at even higher risk. Taking into account that people with disabilities are an important part of the workforce and a critical component of the economy, this paper analyses the advantages and challenges and offers some recommendations for ensuring the right to work for people with disabilities in the context of the developing digital economy in Vietnam today.
