Legislation on rainwater reuse in Korea and experience for Vietnam
Abstract
In water resources management, the responsibility to reuse wastewater (including rainwater) is officially recognised by many countries worldwide as one of the fundamental policies on environmental protection and natural resource management. To address the scarcity of national water, Korea has long put in place policies that aim to improve the efficiency of rainwater management, use, and reuse. In light of Vietnam's ongoing efforts to improve the law on management and use of water resources, the legal provisions of Korean law have proven to be valuable scientific and practical legislative experiences. This article introduces and analyses Korea's laws on water reuse, with a particular emphasis on provisions on the management and operation of infrastructures that use rainwater. Through studying the current Vietnamese law and selectively learning from Korean legislative experiences, the article proposes some legislative recommendations on rainwater reuse in the future.
