Central bank digital currency and issues of the law on issuing money of the State bank of Vietnam

Abstract

The article clarifies the advantages of digital money and digital currency issuance trends of central banks in the world as a basis for analyzing the legal status of operation and performing the function of a central bank in issuing money by the State Bank of Vietnam. From the research results, the author believes that the issuance of digital currency by the Central Bank is an inevitable trend and an important premise for more successful digital transformation in banking activities. This requires that the provisions on money issuance in the Law on State Bank of Vietnam and other provisions on technology and science need to be quickly amended and supplemented.
