Abstract
Although not the opening event in the history of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the First Party Congress (March 1935), held in Macau (then a Portuguese colony, now part of the People’s Republic of China), exactly 90 years ago was a very impressive starting point. The First Party Congress had great significance, demonstrating the strong vitality of the communist movement in Vietnam, reestablishing the Central Executive Committee and restoring Party organization at all levels after the fierce terror of the enemy. The First Party Congress inspired the mettle, wisdom and organizational will of the entire Party in leading the entire nation toward the goals of national independence and socialism
