Revolutionary journalism - The Party’s “powerful weapon” in mobilizing the August Revolution (1939-1945)
Abstract
The August Revolution of 1945 exemplified the Party’s correctness and creativeness, as well as the visionary leadership of Ho Chi Minh, in utilizing revolutionary journalism as a strategic instrument to guide, organize, and mobilize the entire nation in the struggle for independence and freedom. During the national liberation movement (1939-1945), the Party maximized the role of revolutionary journalism to propagate its policies and directives, as well as the goals of the Viet Minh Front. The press played a crucial role in inspiring self-reliance, unity, and resistance against enemy’s distorted propaganda. Vietnamese revolutionary journalism fulfilled its historic mission, making significant contributions to the ultimate victory of the August Revolution in 1945.
