Contributions of Major General Nguyen Son to revolutionary press of Vietnam and China (1925-1955)
Abstract
Under the guidance and ideological influence of President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader and mentor of Vietnam’s revolutionary press, Nguyen Son (1908-1956) was not only trained as a military general but also emerged as a revolutionary journalist. Throughout his revolutionary career from 1925 to 1955, Nguyen Son authored hundreds of articles, compiled and translated books, served as editor-in-chief, and founded various revolutionary newspapers. His work played a vital role in spreading ideological awareness, educating the masses and soldiers, and promoting resistance culture. Drawing from Vietnamese and Chinese archival sources as well as materials preserved by Nguyen Son’s family, this article sheds further light on his contributions to the revolutionary journalism of both nations Vietnam and China during the first half of the 20th century.
