The development of the Party’s viewpoints and theoretical thinking on the role of the private economy (1986-2025)

Abstract

The achievements of 40 years of renovation are closely linked to the evolution of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s perspectives and thinking on the role of the private economy, which were clearly reflected in Party Congress documents and Resolutions on private economy issued by the Politburo and Central Committee. This article reviews the Party’s perspective through the congresses during the renovation period, summarizes the development and contributions of the private economic sector, thereby offers recommendations for the effective implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW dated May 4, 2025 “on private economic development”, so that the private economic sector can truly promote its role as the most important driving force of the national economy in the new development era.
