The evolution of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s viewpoint on private economy during the renovation period

Abstract

Renewing the view on the private economy in building socialism is a major challenge in terms of political mettle and scientific, creative spirit for communist parties in general and for the Communist Party of Vietnam in particular. The process of renewing the Party’s view proceeded gradually and cautiously, yet clearly, firmly and correctly, beginning with the 6th Party Congress in 1986. Forty years of renovation also represent 40 years demonstrating the Party’s mettle and wisdom regarding the private economy in the socialist-oriented market economy model in Vietnam.
