Professor, People’s Teacher Dinh Xuan Lam - Leading historian of contemporary Vietnamese history
Abstract
Professor, People’s Teacher Dinh Xuan Lam is a historian and teacher who has made great contributions to the research and training of history in the country. His research focuses on modern Vietnamese history, especially the anti-colonialism movement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries before the August Revolution in 1945, and on the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh. He has devoted his entire life to the cause of education and training in general, and to the field of History in particular, with the thought: “If there is an afterlife, I will still choose to be a teacher”. He has made outstanding and important contributions in untangling the tangles and “knots” in historical research, contributing to bringing about scientific awareness that is appropriate and close to historical practice.
