Africa: A new focus in the Global South geopolitical competition
Abstract
The Global South (GS) - an international discourse describing the prominent role in the context of geopolitical competition and efforts of developing countries, including Africa, to change the current international economic and financial structure. By synthesizing and analyzing available literature, the paper assessed the practice and development potential of Africa, and as an important part of GS, these advances have brought about changes in the current international economic and financial system. The research results showed that, demonstrating Africa’s position as a member of GS, many current problems in Africa also represent the lack of cohesion of GS in a unified voice to promote its strength in international forums. Africa, like GS, is considered by the great powers as a competitive arena for influence. Thus, the development of Africa will have a profound impact on the power structure and future of the entire Global South.
