Abstract

Teaching Vietnamese language as a second language tothe ethnic minority students in the mountainous areas plays a crucial role in preserving and promoting indigenous cultural values. Through learning Vietnamese, children not only gain knowledge but also explore and connect with the culture and traditions of their ethnic group. This not only supports their personal development but also facilitates effective integration and communication in today’s multicultural society. However, educating Vietnamese language as a second language for the ethnic minority students faces several challenges, including limited infrastructure, shortage of qualified teachers, and the rich local cultural context. To address these difficulties, it is essential to enhance investment in infrastructure, provide training for teachers who understand both the local culture and educational needs, and foster collaboration between schools and the community to create a supportive learning environment that meets the students’ needs effectively.
