Developing audiences through arts education

Abstract

Arts education has an important role in developing audiences for arts and cultural organizations. The terms and methods of Art Education in cultural and artistic organizations are no longer strange in the Western countries, but, in Vietnam, the using of arts education in audience development in cultural and artistic organizations is still very limited. By introducing some basis theories of art education such as Learning about art and Learning through art, this study emphasized the importance of developing audiences through art education thereby enhancing awareness in planning audience development strategies of the arts and culture managers.
