Abstract

The demand for ready-made garments has increased due to busy lifestyle demands, economic conditions and individuals’ desire to improve their quality of life. Clothing quality plays an important role in the quality of human fashion. Garment quality can be improved with appropriate sewing parameters. Garment manufacturers produce garments according to consumer needs and tastes. The objective of the study was to determine the seam and seam parameters considered by garment manufacturers according to garment type. Data were collected from various domestic ready-made garment products using purposive sampling method. The results in this study show that different stitches and seams are used depending on the connection of each specific part of the garment. The study has also shed light on the specialized machinery used to sew various garment components. This study concluded that stitch and seam selection are important to the overall quality of the garment.
