Abstract

Writing skills are essential in language learning, and providing effective feedback plays a crucial role in improving learners’ writing abilities. Over the years, enhancing students’ writing skills has primarily relied on teacher feedback. However, the introduction of automated feedback tools like Grammarly has offered a time-saving and accessible alternative for learners. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of Grammarly’s automated feedback with traditional teacher feedback in improving academic writing skills. By reviewing existing studies and analyzing data from various educational contexts, the author finds that while Grammarly feedback effectively addresses surface errors like grammar and punctuation, teacher feedback offers more comprehensive guidance on content, coherence, and consistency.
