Abstract

The 2018 general education program aims to promote students’ positivity, initiative, and
creativity. 5th graders have many changes compared to lower grades, such as: independent thinking, high
curiosity, love of discovery, rich imagination, logic, and strong development of thinking. PhET Interactive
Simulations (PhET) software is an interactive simulation application that helps students understand
concepts, phenomena, laws, etc.; helps teachers provide many approaches to knowledge, create interest,
and especially develop students’ mathematical modeling skills. The article analyzes the strengths and
limitations, and guides teachers to apply PhET to teaching in the direction of developing mathematical
modeling skills for 5th graders
