MARITIME ENGLISH AND ITS BLENDED TEACHING AND LEARNING IN THE ERA OF INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION 4.0

Abstract

The maritime sector is of fundamental importance to modern societies. Nonetheless, there is
a limited perception and appreciation of its impact and role as a crucial factor in terms of social and
economic development to the public. Though excellent employment and career opportunities are always
in high-demand, maritime industry has not caught attention from potential source of candidates and
there is no doubt when standard maritime English is the main and only reason that hinders prospective
labor force. English is considered as a major language in all type of maritime communication which once
demonstrate how crucial this language has impacted on hands-on experience. To equip proper standardized English for students majoring in maritime in this era of 4.0, blended learning and teaching has been
implemented in many tertiary educations worldwide.
