Abstract

Fractions represent a fundamental area of mathematical knowledge in primary education,
particularly in Grade 4 when students are introduced to this concept for the first time. This paper proposes
an innovative teaching solution through the design of a structured system of mathematical exercises,
elaborates on the theoretical foundations, a step-by-step process for designing exercises aligned with
competency goals, and provides a concrete example of an exercise system. Based on both analysis and
classroom experience, the study offers practical recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of teaching
fractions in primary schools in a way that aligns with the goals of modern education reform in Vietnam
