Abstract

National defense and security education is an important part of the national education system,
playing a direct role in contributing to building a solid national defense and people’s security posture,
while at the same time fostering a sense of responsibility in the young generation in the cause of building
and protecting the Fatherland. In the context of globalization, deep international integration and the
emergence of non-traditional security challenges such as cyber warfare, terrorism, epidemics, climate
change, etc., strengthening national defense and security education in higher education institutions has
become an urgent requirement. The article focuses on analyzing the role, current situation and issues
arising in national defense and security education in universities today, and at the same time proposes
a number of key solutions to innovate the content, methods and forms of teaching organization in a
modern, effective and practical direction. Thereby, contributing to raising awareness, patriotism, sense
of responsibility and necessary skills for students in the cause of building and protecting the Socialist
Republic of Vietnam in the new situation
