Teaching and developing skills in History and Geography at primary schools
Abstract
In the 21st century, the general education curricula in many countries have undergone a dramatic change in the direction of shifting from teaching to impart knowledge to teaching to develop learners’ competencies. This is an inevitable trend that Vietnam cannot stay out of and it is also consistent with the requirement to fundamentally and comprehensively renew education and training to meet the industrialization and modernization of the socialist-oriented market economy and international integration. Therefore, the selection and use of methods and techniques to develop learners’ competencies have become a very important issue in the organization of teaching subjects especially some integrated subjects which are History and Geography at primary level.
