Abstract

The article presents the results of a study that involved constructing video experiments on oscillations of simple pendulum and spring pendulum and using the Tracker Video Analysis software to analyze the oscillation laws. The results, shown (through graphs and equations) demonstrate that the distance, velocity, and acceleration of the spring pendulum and simple pendulum undergo harmonic motion over time, and there is a relationship between their frequency, phase, and amplitude. The article suggests the idea of using experiments in teaching to develop students’ physics competency, and highlights the advantages of the free, easy-to-use Tracker Video Analysis software that is suitable for all regions and age groups. Therefore, teachers can use it as a survey experiment for students to maximize their physics competency development in teaching oscillation content in Physics 11 (in the 2018 Physics program).
