Using CHATGPT to support academic writing in higher education – opportunities and challenges

Abstract

Despite its early development, ChatGPT has been used widely in teaching and learning at tertiary education. Together with dynamic changes in information technology, the ethical implications of ChatGPT and other forms of AI are also advancing swiftly. Readers are advised to make sure that sources are reliable for the latest news and updates. This study discusses the opportunities and challenges of using ChatGPT in academic writing at tertiary education in Vietnam. It aims to prove that if users know how to use ChatGPT effectively, it will become their ally not enemy.
