Developing students’ mathematical communication competencies in teaching the topic of fraction in grade 4
Abstract
The development of mathematical communication capacity for primary school students is the process of improving communication and expression of ideas in the field of mathematics. Developing mathematical communication capacity for students in teaching the 4th grade fractional content is a requirement of the teaching tasks to be performed for primary teachers in the implementation of the 2018 general education curriculum. The situation shows that the mathematical communication capacity of 4th graders is still limited, especially the two abilities of listening and speaking. Measures to develop students' mathematical communication capacity include: (1) Developing reading and writing skills for students in teaching quorum 4; (2) Developing listening and speaking skills in learning quorum 4; (3) Training students in confidence when presenting mathematical content about fractions can help teachers overcome the above limitations in students.
