Abstract

Grammar, first and foremost, is a branch of linguistics that specializes in studying the systematic transformations of words, the structural models of words, the formulas for constructing phrases, and the types of sentence structures. These models, formulas, and sentence types are abstractly conceived, divorced from the specific material meaning of words, phrases, and sentences. The study of grammar involves a focus on grammatical meaning, grammatical methods, grammatical forms, grammatical categories, grammatical relationships, grammatical units, and more, in order to represent the inherent meanings of language content. In this article, we only touch upon the domain of grammar, specifically elucidating “parts of speech as a grammatical category.”
