Abstract
This study investigates the diversification of pre-listening activities to improve the listening skill for English non-major students. A mixed-method approach with the instruments including questionnaires, observations and interviews is employed to ensure the reliability and validity of the study. The results of the study show that the diversification of pre-listening activities helps students improve their listening comprehension as well as reduce stress during the listening lesson. Students become more active and participate more effectively in tasks at the subsequent stages of the lesson. From the research results, some suggestions are given for a better teaching and learning.
