Methods of processing Sino-Vietnamese sounds in Vietnamese-Chinese translation

Abstract

Translation is the use of the vocabulary of one language to express the meaning of another language; therefore, translation is both a scientific discipline that requires precise and objective accuracy, and an art form. This is why, in the process of translating from Vietnamese to Chinese, we encounter many difficulties, especially regarding the meaning of Han Viet characters. Without a solid understanding of the meaning of Hán Việt characters, translation becomes impossible. Based on this point, the author presents some methods for handling Han Viet characters, such as forward translation, reverse translation, direct translation of Han Viet characters, translation based on meaning, and translation based on lexical choice. It is hoped that this will be a useful reference document for learners.
