Abstract

Teaching materials are essential in English Language Teaching (ELT), aiding both teachers and learners. These materials include textbooks, workbooks, and digital tools. Despite their importance, material evaluation in ELT remains underexplored. This paper examines the role of teaching materials, the evaluation process, and related challenges, such as subjectivity in pre-use evaluations. By following clear, systematic criteria like alignment with language learning principles and neutrality, the evaluation process can become more effective. Addressing these challenges is key to improving teaching and learning outcomes in ELT.
