Speaking skills are among the four most important skills for language learners, especially for beginners. However, achieving fluency is not easy for everyone which often presents a challenge for students learning Chinese. In addition to students’ efforts and confidence, educators need to integrate methods for teaching Chinese speaking skills to enhance students’ motivation and help them feel more confident in communication. This article explores the techniques used in teaching Chinese speaking skill 1 at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade and offers some suggestions regarding these methods.
