Research on the causes of soil and rock weathering and treatment measures to minimize landslides in steep mountainous terrain to serve the teaching activities of Geotechnical Engineering at Hai Phong University
Abstract
In recent years, landslides have occurred frequently in the mountainous areas of the North, causing heavy losses in human lives and property. The terrible landslide in Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province is one example. Lang Nu is just one of many places that often suffer from landslides. There are many causes of landslides, the main causes of which are steep terrain, heavy rain lasting for many days, weak ground due to strong weathering of rocks and soil, and poor structure when exposed to heavy rain, and sand being washed away... In this article, the author analyzes the causes of weathering of rocks and soil and proposes measures to handle the weathered layer to minimize landslides, flash floods, and mud and rock floods in areas with steep terrain.
