IMPLEMENTING A MOVIE DUBBING PROJECT AS A WAY TO DEVELOP PRONUNCIATION SKILLS AMONG ENGLISH-MAJOR FRESHMEN
Abstract
Pronunciation is a critical aspect of second language acquisition, particularly for Englishmajor freshmen in Vietnam who face challenges such as mother tongue interference, limited exposure to
authentic input, and lack of motivation. This study explores the use of movie dubbing as an innovative,
engaging, and effective method for improving pronunciation skills. Drawing on theoretical insights and
practical classroom implementation, the article outlines a structured dubbing project integrated into an
English pronunciation course. The project emphasizes features such as intonation, rhythm, and connected
speech, and promotes collaborative learning, technological engagement, and learner motivation. Findings
suggest that movie dubbing not only enhances pronunciation but also fosters confidence, listening skills,
and classroom community, making it a valuable pedagogical tool in teaching English.
collaborative learning.
