DEVELOPING AUTONOMOUS LEARNING CAPACITY IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE STUDENTS AT HANOI METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY
Abstract
This study investigates the self-directed learning competence of Foreign Language majors at Hanoi
Capital University amidst pervasive globalization and rapid advancements in information technology. It
focuses on three key dimensions: self-research and information processing capabilities; the development of
critical and creative thinking; and the enhancement of time management and learning efficiency.
The research establishes a theoretical framework and applies practical methodologies to foster selfdirected learning through student-centered pedagogical models and technology integration. Proposed
strategies include encouraging independent research projects, cultivating critical thinking via problemsolving activities, and equipping students with effective time management skills.
This study anticipates supporting students in developing proactive learning approaches, improving
academic outcomes, and contributing theoretical insights and practical recommendations for enhancing
self-directed learning in undergraduate programs, particularly in Foreign Languages.
