Abstract
The purpose of this study was to assess the characteristics of extracurricular sports participation
time and physical fitness among female students at An Giang University – Vietnam National University,
Ho Chi Minh City. The study involved 97 female students enrolled in the Physical Education course
during the first semester of the 2024–2025 academic year. Physical fitness was evaluated through three
tests: 30-meter sprint (s), standing long jump (cm), and 30-second sit-ups (repetitions). Extracurricular
sports participation time was determined using a self-reported questionnaire designed by the researchers,
including frequency of sessions per week, duration per session, time of day, and the relationship between
these factors and the students’ physical fitness indicators. Results showed that regular participation in
extracurricular sports activities contributes to improvements in female students’physical fitness
