Self-study is an essential ability of students according to the credit system. However, students of the Vinh University of Technology Education are not yet aware of the importance of self-study leading to lack of effective self-study skills and methods. The paper presents a number of issues on self- study capacity development, the reality and measures to develop self-study capacity for students of of to stimulate independence and initiative, self-study of students.
